October certainly ended up being an amazing month! I had the extreme and frankly, life changing experience of being a part of the Rizoma Festival in Madrid. Founded by Gabriela Martí (yes, relation), the film and arts festival welcomed acclaimed director David Lynch to the city to speak about his work, creativity and transcendental meditation.
For three days, I worked closely with Mr. Lynch; escorting him to the various events, interviews and dinners as well as some impromptu visits to museums. It had been his first visit to Madrid in nearly 25 years and when he expressed great interest in seeing the iconic paintings The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch and Picasso's Guernica, we jumped at the opportunity to arrange that. Between that and the hectic schedule of the week, it was the small moments like sitting together in the Plaza Santa Ana having a coffee in the sun that made it special. That's not something you forget.
His talks on meditation and creativity brought to me a new understanding of a school of thought I never considered. If you're interested in learning more about it, check out The David Lynch Foundation.
